Friday morning marked the end of my night shifts for this academic year. Not having done any night shifts before, I am naturally excited to take on the challenge of not sleeping at night. Quite the experience...something I will definitely do again :D
UK is having heatwave this week and daytime temperature shoots over 25 degrees celsius in Manchester. This is another reason why I am so glad that I am doing night shifts this week as it generally cools to acceptable temperature in the wee morning. The shocking thing about night shifts (as I have found) is that the break we have is two hours long. During the first night, my mentor said I could go grab a pillow and sleep in the office, like what everyone else does. I think it took me quite long to register the fact that I can sleep during my break. However, according to my past experience, if I take a short nap, I will be more tired after. So my mentor just log me in to the computer in the doctor's office and I am free to do anything I want. As some of you have already realise, I went to Facebook during my night shifts. But the most audacious thing I have done is to watch two full hours of anime/drama during my break. Think that is why I am so loving all my night shifts. In fact, my mentor saw that I am really enjoying my night shifts that he asked me if I want to continue working one more night and take a day off next week. Why not? *winks*
One happy thing happened today too! Finally saw Jiexin online and we talked. Just really glad that she is safe and sound and working towards the road of recovery so that she can be discharged from the hospital to go for uni classes in Beijing.
Also got to video-call my parents today. Keep missing them because of my night shifts and my bro sent me an email with the title "My missing sis..." o.O Think I should reply with the title "My missing family..."
Went for the Manchester United FC stadium and museum tour with Rong Rong today. Absolutely brilliant! Will post photos soon...
