    I am back from OBS!!!!

Though my face is badly burnt...kind of like having Rudolph's red nose...but I certainly had los of fun.

    Day One
I had to reach Punggol Point Jetty at 8.30am and that place is like miles away from my home, so I had to leave my house at 6.15am. Met Xuet Ying at Dhoby Ghaut MRT and we both set off to Punggol MRT to take bus no. 82 to the jetty. When we reached OBS main campus, we got to know our instructors, Chin Yong and Selamat. The group was separated into two groups for "administrative purposes", according to Chin Yong, so I belonged to the group Dhanabalan and the other group was Eng Soon. Don't ask me who both guys were because I don't know myself.
The day went pretty slow because of all the unpacking and touring around the campus, which I had done before when I went for OBS in Sec 3. But the first task came: the trust fall. It really test you on your trust on others because you are supposed to climb to higher ground and fall back into the canvas that your peers are clutching onto. Then the second task was to climb up the Inverse Tower. The instructors made it into a Campaign for Hope game with the objective of "the higher you climb, the more money you will raise for your patients". Pei Yueng was my partner and though we only managed to climb to the second log of the zz logs (the logs are shaped in a Z shape), it was already an amazing feat to me, considering how far up we both had climb to...
The night was more exciting. The instructors handed us each a light stick and lead us into the forest (the forest had no other light at all). What I thought was a night trail turned out to be a tunnel crawl. We each had to crawl through this tunnel that is super short in diameter in the dark individually. Fun and exciting!

Day two is all about water activities. We had to kayak around half a Pulau Ubin and through a river and swamp before reaching campsite 2. It was strenuous because most of the time, we were kayaking against the tide. At night, after eating and washing up, just when we thought we could sleep, a wild boar came to look for food. It was successfully chased off by a few stray dogs. Can you imagine the commotion they caused? :P What an exciting night!

Day three: we had a last land activity whereby each of us was blindfolded and all of us must travel from one point to the other point. The mission was successful and as what Chin Yong said, the feeling was "diabetic sweet". After kayaking back to campsite 1, and after washing all the kayaks, there was one last sea activity - the jetty jump! What I feared most came true once again. To top it off, I was the second person, and the first girl, to jump off the jetty. After the seemingly neverending fall, I managed to get back to the jetty thanks to Alvin for pulling me towards the ladder. The jetty jump was an exhilarating end to my three days induction course.

Of course, I did not went back to Singapore without any lessons. I remembered what Selamat said: Everyone is like a pencil. With each sharpening, though painful it may be, you will always be sharper by the end of it. Everywhere you go, you will always leave a mark. If you ever leave a bad mark, do not forget that you have an eraser at the tip to erase of the bad marks. You may have a beautiful wooden outer layer, but what matters most is the quality of the lead inside.

So for these three days, many thanks to Chin Yong and Selamat for being the MOHS instructors and all the inspirational moments you both had share with us. I really respect the both of u for being so professional and yet funny and friendly! Thank you Vivian too for all the administrative work that you have to do for the MOHS.
