Ok...I know I am guilty of not blogging for close to 2 months. Call me tired or lazy...whatever.
Still trying to adapt to Manchester, coz the weather is absolutely freezing. And winter is not even here yet. Way to go!
Lots of things happened ever since I came here. Firstly, as some of you might have heard, I lost two of my lugguages (one of them containing electronic stuff and the other my parents' clothings). I was promised that the lugguages will be sent to the hotel by the same day. As expected, there was no news of it. So my parents and I stormed down to the airport the next day (Hooray for Bus 43!). The same guy told me that the lugguages are still in London Heathrow. A little angry, I asked him if that was an assumption because he could not locate the lugguages in Manchester Airport. He blatantly said it was not an assumption. And guess what? Just as we are about to leave the airport, I saw another staff carrying one of my lugguages. I swear that person could be my saviour. So can you imagine the expression on that guy's face when he saw that I had reclaimed all my lugguages? I am so not impressed!
Seriously, all the things that had never happened to me all happen at the same period. When I arrived at the Manchester Airport, due to 911 incident, the airport is holding an evacuation drill. I was like :S The next night at the hotel, the fire alarm went off at midnight and everyone had to stand at the streets with the chilly winds around. I was fortunate enough to bring my jumper with me. Some of them just came out in bathrobes.
Staying in Dalton Ellis hall now. Not too bad a place, except that it is in a leafy conservative area. So all of us had to be wary of our surroundings when we come back at night. But I liked the fact that I am able to see squirrels everyday frolicking in the green grasses, with or without acorns in their paws and mouth. I even saw red foxes on several occasions. Now, how cool can that be? I met some really nice people around in Dalton Ellis hall - Rong Rong who is from Malaysia, a brainy girl studying Medicine; and Katherine who is half Iranian, half English but lives in Scotland (seriously, she had to repeat this sentence for so many times), a talented girl who loves languages. I had to rely on Katherine to help me interpret my sociology articles.
In class, I've made some good friends as well. Thuy, Rachel and Katie. A good beginning, considered that fact that I am afraid of not making any friends because I am the only Asian international student. The only other international student I know in Nursing is from New York. I feel weird initially because people in my class dressed as though they are going to Orchard but I am only in my jumper and jeans. But I don't really care because later when we are doing our clinical placement, we are not allowed to wear any watches, nail polish and other accessories. (Now this is one part I like about being a nurse!)
The leaves on the trees are slowly turning red and yellow. When the wind whistles, the leaves rustle and slowly, one by one, they fall to the ground ever so gracefully. Isn't the image pretty?
Shall end my (long) post here with pictures I took.

My small but cosy room...:)
